Fact of the day: In 1947, The New York Times noted that “The pizza could be as popular a snack as the hamburger if Americans only knew more about it.”

Affordable housing in development for the first time

A 516-unit affordable housing development is in progress at Spring Hill Station. The project is the first deal of its kind for Tysons. This project will provide crucial housing for low- to moderate-income families.

The development consists of two mixed-use buildings with residential units guaranteed to remain affordable for the next 99 years.

In addition, the project has a publicly accessible community center featuring basketball courts and fitness facilities that are free and open to the public.

Another arena project bill dead

A bill for the proposed sports arena in Alexandria for the Wizards and Caps has died in the Senate. It would've created a sports entertainment authority to fund the project through bonds. But, Senate Appropriations Committee chairwoman L. Louise Lucas declined to docket it. This means the bill will not be heard or passed into law.
